Why Most Engaged Couples Get STDS …
You’re engaged! Congratulations! Well, now’s the time to get some STDs right?!
Save the Dates OF COURSE!
Save the dates are basically a pre-invite that officially announces your wedding date and lets guests know that they will be invited to the wedding! So why do most couples get these STDS you ask? (Ok, ok, haha Save-THE-Dates!) Check out some reasons and tips below!
Why get Save-The-Dates?
To tell your guests about accommodations for the wedding. Whether that be hotel information or if its a destination wedding; the location, the resort and a travel agent to contact if working with one.
Should I expect an RSVP?
You shouldn’t expect an RSVP from save the dates, but it’s a nice ‘heads up!’ as a guest, knowing they’ll be invited to your wedding!
What if I have to include a lot of information?
Can’t fit all of that text on one card?
No problem! Include a wedding website on your save the date so people can view additional information online.
Or – opt to send an additional card insert in your envelope! Just remember, this could affect your postage $$!

Save-the-dates can be fun and unique. You can choose to do a generic card, specialty shaped card, or even a magnet!
Get really fancy and somehow get a live butterfly in a tiny box to be released when its opened (ok, ok, I watch the movie bridesmaids too much!)
Tired of a regular 5×7 save-the-date card? Choose a square card instead to change things up!
Typical Save The Date Etiquette includes:
Start Sending your save-the-dates anywhere from 6-8 months in advance. This gives your guests the ability to block the date off, arrange travel and save money to attend!
If you want to send your save-the-date around the 10-12 month mark in advance, I suggest doing a magnet option so the guest can easily be reminded when seeing it on his/her fridge.
How do I inform my guests that its 21 or older to attend?
You use the save-the-dates as an option to add “and guest” so you don’t end up with family or friends assuming they can bring multiple people. This helps with wonky situations like when you don’t want kids to attend your wedding; informing your guests ahead of time can inform them they’ll need to arrange child care, too!
Typically, my clients get a stationery designer to create their gorgeous wedding invitations. Just remember, you don’t have to match your save-the-date to your wedding theme. Sometimes, couples don’t define their wedding colors or theme so far in advance, which is okay!
Jaye, can you create save-the-dates?!
All of my clients get complimentary custom-designed, 5×5, flat double-sided thank you’s (Yasss!) or they have the option to use these cards for save-the-dates instead! For Thank You cards, I usually fill in the text for you so it makes your lives easier (and hands less prone to hurting!). You always have the option to forego the text and just do blank space to write!
Need envelopes? No problem!
With me, you can custom design your envelopes from the return address right down to the envelope lining! (Ooh Ahh!)
Don’t fret! STDS aren’t that bad after all… Hah!
