Updike Farmstead Engagement Photos :: Nicole and Jesse
Nicole and Jesse brought along a very special guest to their classic white engagement shoot at Updike Farmstead in Princeton. Read on to meet their very special guest…and the special surprise they brought me!
Nicole and Jesse’s love story is a classic one: boy meets girl in school, crushes on girl, girl has no idea. Life goes on..they reconnect years later, and poof! Love happens! I love these two and the special guest they brought to their shoot…..their one year old daughter, the precious ‘Lily girl’! Having her there not only made for some great shots of the three of them, but truly brought out a love between the Nicole and Jesse that I don’t see too often, but was privileged enough to capture this day. And to do so at Updike Farmstead in Princeton? None of us could have asked for a better day!
As for the day of our amazing shoot together, for the dressier portion of the day, Nicole chose an emerald dress from Charlotte Russe, which she paired with brown strappy heels from Aldo. Jesse complimented the emerald dress beautifully with a pair navy blue dress pants, a long sleeve white button down and brown dress shoes (and a brown belt to match!). For the more laid back, casual look, Nicole chose an off the shoulder white shirt from her favorite store to shop at, Island Gypsy (in Lavalette), paired with ripped jeans from American Eagle and the same comfy brown strappy heels she sported earlier from Aldo. Jesse wore Levi jeans from Macy’s with a long sleeve cream colored shirt, available at Tilly’s. They look amazing together, don’t they?!?! Then, add Lily in and you get….perfection!
This was such a special shoot for me, and to top it off, Nicole, who is not just a hairdresser, but a crafter and Cricut aficionado as well, brought me a personalized Jaye Kogut Photography mug!!!!! I was beside myself that my client brought me a gift, let alone a handmade one! I cannot wait to see all three of them at their Grand Cascade Lodge wedding next September!

How did you two meet?
We met waaaaaaay back in the day. 2005-2006, (in middle school) Jesse was in 6th grade and i was in 8th. He tells me all the time I was the older girl he had a crush on and I just remember him being this little kid with an Afro 😉 We reconnected a few summers ago and now have a beautiful 1 year old daughter and are finally tying the knot!
If your love story was a movie, which movie would it be?
if our love story was a movie, it would definitely be “life as we know it.” not for the story line, but for the name of the movie. you really never know what life is gonna throw your way, but in the end it always works out exactly how it’s supposed to be.
Describe the proposal
We got engaged on Christmas eve! We spent the night visiting both of our families because it was our daughters first Christmas! When we got home that night, as I was finally crawling into bed he asked me to come out in to the living room. When i walked out he was standing there in front of our Christmas tree (we were both wearing our matching Clark Griswald Christmas pj’s lol) and he grabbed my hands and asked me to marry him! He told me how he wanted to ask me in the comfort and privacy of our tiny little home by the beach, in front of our Christmas tree, a place where we will get to spend a ton more Christmas’s with our growing family. It was super special and romantic and it meant so much! (my parents were also engaged on Christmas eve 43 years ago!)
What is your favorite thing about being engaged?
Nicole: Aside from wedding planning of course, i’m really just genuinely enjoying this exciting time in our life with our families. I’m trying not to blink and it all be over! So for now i’m just soaking in all of the bliss!
Jesse: My favorite thing about being engaged, is Nicole not asking me at least 5 times a day if i am ever going to marry her 🙂 But in all seriousness, i’m enjoying the anticipation leading up the big day and knowing I get to spend the rest of my life with the best girl in this world. I’m one lucky guy!
What is your favorite thing about your fiancé?
Nicole: It’s really hard for me to pick just ONE. I would have to say my most favorite thing about Jesse is just how selfless he is and how he would do just about anything to make me happy and he works SO hard to give me and Lily the best life possible.
Jesse: Her heart. She is the most loving and caring person in this entire world, on top of being the greatest mother to our Lily girl.
What are you most excited about for your wedding? (Vows, dances, party, etc.)
To be in one place, at one time, with all of our favorite people celebrating our forever! (plus we cannot wait to party!!!!!)
