Palace at Somerset Park Wedding :: Lauren and Michael

Happy Winter everyone! I hope you’re getting through these winter months (that is if you’re up North like us New Jersey folk). Spring will be here before we know it and wedding season will be back into full swing. I wanted to share this lovely Palace at Somerset Park wedding I did just at the end of 2016! Lauren and Michael’s wedding was so much fun. Lauren is actually a makeup artist herself and we met a few years ago on a shoot together. I knew instantly we’d connect and I was so honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding!  The day started off at the Palace where the girls all got ready. Lauren wore a beautiful Jasmine Bridal gown and her bridesmaids stood by her in a deep purple color – courtesy of the convertible wrap dress! I loved how each girl wore their dress a different way and decided right there on the spot! We snuck a few photos before the sun went down outside on the terrace of The Palace – so pretty! Now normally, a lot of brides opt to get real floral bouquets for themselves – Lauren actually chose a really pretty silk floral bouquet from an Etsy designer – it was perfect!

Guests gathered for a beautiful ceremony – perfectly decorated by Peter James Floral.  Once the I do’s were said and were sealed with a kiss the party started! DJ Vic Patel kept the energy up all night and I especially loved when Lauren’s parents gifted Michael a Giant’s sweatshirt.  Apparently, Lauren comes from Giants fans while Michael is definitely NOT a fan of Giants. 😉 Hah! Read more below to learn about Lauren and Michael’s winter wedding inspiration!

How did you two meet and fall in love?

Mike and I met though friends while going to local shows we were defiantly two people who no one would ever thought would end up together. We started dating when I was 19 and he was 25 and never looked back! We fell in love with our ability to make each other laugh and our constant desire to make each other happy. I knew Mike was the one when I realized I couldn’t picture my life without him.

What was most important to you when planning your wedding?

We both wanted to do as much planning together that would possibly could. Luckily we are both easy going and the best thing we could do was actually listen to each other on what we wanted! We also wanted to make sure our families were included as much as possible which was very important to us!

What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme or colors?

Our theme was fall with the color purple which is both of our favorite colors. Fall to me is the most beautiful time of the year, its the time of the year we started dating which was the same day as our wedding date!

What is your favorite memory from your wedding?

Besides getting married to my best friend? Being surrounded by everyone who means the world to us, you could defiantly feel the love. Oh and of course the steak.

How will you describe the feeling you had on your wedding day to your children one day?

Picture the happiest moment of your life times it by a million! But its also kinda crazy like holiday shopping.

What piece of advice would you give to future couples planning their big day?

Enjoy it and don’t stress! Don’t be upset if something goes wrong you just need to enjoy your day and go with the flow the day is over before you know it!

What was one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We looked at so many venues, but as soon as we walked into the Palace we both just looked at each other and knew. Everything about it was gorgeous and it had that wow factor when you first pulled up.

Which 3 details from your wedding were your favorites?

We loved having so much of our families involved in our wedding it just gave it that extra special something! We loved how amazing the team at the Palace was they were so on top of everything which made the day stress free! Also I loved how much fun my girls and I had in the bridal suite before hand just getting dolled up! It was such a fun way to start the day!
