Ashley and Jonathan
A stunning bride and groom, a super cute dog in a white dress, an adorable son, a chill lounge vibe, and perfect weather at the beach: who could ask for anything more? Ashley and Jonathan’s wedding at Le Club Avenue in Long Branch was incredible from start to finish (I mean, I had my first pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich at the end of the night because of them)! Read on to see what I mean…
There is only one word to describe Ashley and Jonathan: incredible. Together, along with Jonathan’s son, Beckett, who is the most adorable little boy ever (I am totally hooking him up with my niece), combined with both of their warm and welcoming families, made for one of the best weddings ever.
The day began with Ashley getting ready at the Bungalow Hotel, with her sweet sidekick pup Lucy by her side, while Jonathan got his groom prep on with Beckett by his side at the Ocean Place Resort. After popping champagne, lots of laughs, and super cute pics of Lucy, Beckett joined Ashley at the Bungalow Hotel with his eyes covered so he could be surprised by how gorgeous Ashley looked in her wedding gown. When he uncovered his eyes, and hugged her, it was simply adorable. From his “first look”, to his picking flowers he found while on his way to formal pictures to give to Ashley, to mentioning how she “looked like a Disney princess”, Beckett was the perfect little gentleman that simply melted my heart.
We truly had the best weather day a person could ask for: a little bit on the breezy side, but overall, perfection. We were able to capture so many amazing images: on the beach under the boardwalk for their first look (be sure to check out Jonathan’s face when he saw Ashley for the first time), on the boardwalk, and of course, on the rooftop for the ceremony and cocktail reception at the perfect lounge location. All of Ashley and Jonathan’s modern beach vibe wedding dreams came to fruition courtesy of Magnolia West Events. From the modern couches and weathered wood chairs with plush, glam pillows scattered about the venue, to the perfect amount of sparkle votives, and of course, the custom made wood and fresh floral bar, everything was full of detailed perfection.
Thank you Ashley, Jonathan, and Beckett, as well as both of your families for such a fantastic day! I am so grateful to have been able to capture your big day that was so fun, so full of artistic detail and had so many loving moments. I can’t wait to see the memories you all make as you grow together.

How did you two meet and fall in love?
“You had me at swipe right”
This “modern” love story started on a fateful night in New Jersey. Both Jon and Ashley found themselves curiously evaluating possible nearby romantic ‘matches’ in the most convenient way possible, from the comfort of home and on their phones… thirty miles apart.
While visiting her mom, Ashley happened to open the Bumble app and came across a handsome gentleman named Jon. Ashley was instantly attracted to Jon’s studious photos along with the witty commentary in his description and – despite living in Annapolis at the time – decided to take a chance by swiping right.
Simultaneously, while at home, Jon also happened to open the Bumble app. He was immediately drawn to Ashley’s stunning beauty, but was even more drawn to the down-to-earth and fun images she felt captured her personality. Although the way people portray themselves on the internet is sometimes questionable, Jon couldn’t imagine not swiping right: “Did I just find a unicorn on the internet?” he thought.
From there a conversation started. Ashley mentioned the whole living in Annapolis thing, but fate had already decided that was not going to be a problem as Jon was going to be visiting Annapolis the following week for a friend’s wedding. So despite the distance, the two made plans to meet up for coffee in Ashley’s ocean town.
When the fateful meeting day had arrived, things were not going in Ashley’s favor. It was the end of the sales quarter and numbers were slow to come in: Ashley contemplated cancelling the date as she feared she wouldn’t make the best first impression if she had to step away from the date to dial for dollars. Jon, on the other hand, being on vacation and seriously interested in beautiful internet unicorns was having quite a lovely day. Despite Ashley’s trials and tribulations, she had a feeling she would regret not following through with meeting for coffee and head out.
Ashley was taken aback by finding Jon more handsome in person and wishing she spent more time getting ready. Jon, however, saw Ashley walking down the street in a ‘devil wears Prada’ type red dress… Yikes. Ease was instant, laughter contagious, and connection undeniable. When asked “how did it go?” by his friends before the wedding, the only reply Jon could find to describe the meeting was: “I’m in trouble. I hope she wants to talk to me again.” It turns out she did.
Alternating weekends between Princeton and Annapolis, making up fake vacation words they are proud of like “work”-cation, moving in together, getting engaged in front of their Christmas tree, enjoying every chance to have a new experience with Beckett and Lucy, and simply not being able to imagine a life without one another – it seems that first coffee date will never end.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle was a pretty incredible moment. It was almost in slow motion.. all the memories of how our relationship grew to to this point coming to mind, the months of planning and seeing our friends and family surrounding us, the gravity of it was not lost on us.
Was there a theme behind your wedding day? What colors did you choose? What ‘feeling’ were you going for?
We were aspiring for modern beach with the fabulous guidance of Magnolia West Events!
What made you choose your specific venue for your wedding day?
We wanted a venue that would marry our love for the beach, modern take on a wedding setting and still allowed us to feel luxurious.
What piece of advice would you give to future couples planning their big day?
So many! To narrow it down to three – Choose vendors that feel like friends, enjoy every moment of the process because it goes so fast and stay true to what you want for the big day!
What was most important to you when planning your wedding?
With planning, it was important for us to have people around us we could trust and felt more like friends than vendors.
