Grand Marquis Wedding
Grand Marquis Wedding :: Gina and Charles
Gina and Charles classic wedding at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey was an absolute delight to shoot! These two are so in love and so much fun to be around!
From the romantic vibe they chose to go with for their day, to the tears and laughs everyone shared throughout the day, memories were made for all!
Gina and Charles actually live in my hometown, so when we shot their engagement session, they chose to do it at a park that I used to visit frequently as a child. We had so much fun together, me reminiscing, them swinging on swings and truly enjoying each other! I knew then I could not wait to shoot their wedding day!
We began our day at an elegant home in Brick, where Gina dressed in her incredibly detailed KittyChen Couture gown, and her girls dressed in different styles of a lavender gown from David’s Bridal. I have to say, for me, the most amazing part of “getting ready” was when Charles arrived for the first look….they met on the home’s stunning staircase. When they saw each other, the tears started flowing from everyone.
Since it was a gorgeous New Jersey summer day, we moved on to Divine Park in Spring Lake for group shots before heading to the Grand Marquis for the I do’s! Everyone knows I have a fondness for unique touches at weddings, and Gina and Charles certainly did not disappoint. They incorporated a “ring warming” ceremony into their wedding; I was so touched by it and how they included members of their family into their marriage ceremony. I was able to sneak the bride and groom away for a few amazing photos throughout the Grand Marquis, and their stunning fountains, gardens and halls. But when it was time to party……it was time to party! Sayrewoods Floral and Event Design was able to bring alive Gina and Charles vision of a romantic and earthy vibe with lavish white, purple and lavender roses, with succulents scattered about in just the right places. These two love to have fun, and the same goes for their family and friends! Everyone at this wedding clearly had a blast!
Having the opportunity to be a part of Gina and Charles big day was truly amazing for me. Thank you for having me – it was an honor!
How did you two meet and fall in love?
I was dog sitting and my friend was staying with me at the house. My friend kept insisting that I meet Charles who just so happened to live right around the corner. After a lot of persuasion, I gave in and Charles came over to meet me. If it wasn’t for Lily, the 3 pound Yorkie, and my friend being persistent, we may have never met.
What was most important to you when planning your wedding?
The photographer, music, and food were very important to us.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
We both agree that our favorite memory was when we did the first look. As soon as Charles heard me talking, he started crying. When Jaye, our photographer, said to turn around,
Charles didn’t make eye contact with me. Instead he went right in for a hug and was crying more. At that point, I was crying too.
What made you choose your specific venue for your wedding day?
Gina’s cousin had gotten married there in 2012 and his wife was a manager there for years. Gina had always loved the venue and Charles loved the food.
Make sure you do what you want to do and what makes you both happy. So many people will give you their opinions, but in the end, it is what you and your significant other want. Remember that even though planning can be stressful, the wedding will come and go and you will realize that it was all worth it. Make sure to let things roll off your back when something doesn’t go exactly to plan- you do not want to be focusing on the little things. At the end of the day, you will be married to your best friend and the day goes by in the blink of an eye.
Was there a theme behind your wedding day? What colors did you choose? What ‘feeling’ were you going for?
We went with lavender, grey, and pops of plum and the decor was a romantic, earthy vibe.
