Liz and Jay :: Married
Comment below to show Liz & Jay some love!!
As 2017 comes to an end, I can’t help but reminisce on all the amazing weddings I got to photograph and this Buona Sera Palazzo wedding is one of my faves! Liz and Jay scandalously met at work (ok, maybe it wasn’t scandalously just super cute!). After a few dates, these two laid back lovers got together and the rest is history. After what felt like forever since they had booked me for their wedding photography, the big day finally came! Liz wore a beautiful short sleeve Allure Bridals gown. I loved the lace detail on it and the fact that Liz wore rose gold converse underneath her dress! The bridesmaids all wore a deep gray, long dress by Belsoie from Hearts for your Bridal. Jay and his guys looked super sharp in their tuxedos from Forum Tuxedo shop.
The day went extremely smooth and we could not have asked for better weather – not too hot or cold! The portraits for the day were done at Monmouth University. Liz and Jay held their first look there while friends and family looked on from afar. We cruised through their photos and had a blast since the bridal party was so energetic and fun! The floral design was amazing thanks to Magnolia West Events and just wait until you see the decor at the reception!
After photos we headed to Buona Sera Palazzo for a beautiful ceremony and finished the night off with dinner, drinks and dancing!
Congratulations Liz and Jay it was an honor being a part of your day!
Read more below to learn about their love story and favorite memories from their wedding!
How did you two meet and fall in love?
We met when we were both working part time at The Home Depot. We were friends first, although Jay had always had a crush on me, which the entire store knew, including me. He was always picking me up, or finding ways to annoy me ( which he continues to do). After a few years I was single and we just met up hung out and starting dating. It was easy falling in love with him since we got along so well and are both very laid back. We enjoy different things and got each other into new things. I willing go to Mets games with him and he will sit through a play or how ever many hours i spend searching for new books in Barnes and Noble.
What was most important to you when planning your wedding?
The most important thing to us when it came to planning our wedding was good food and good music. If the food and music weren’t right,
then it wouldn’t have been our wedding at all. We are big on food and music. We haven’t heard any complaints about either!
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme or colors?
The theme and colors were books and fall. I worked with Danielle from Magnolia West Events, I basically said fall colors, books, library meets beauty and the beast type of theme and she created it from scratch. Danielle did everything from the centerpieces, our flowers, all the decor for the ceremony and reception. She nailed it. It turned out so beautiful!
What is your favorite memory from your wedding?
My favorite memory from the wedding besides getting to marry my best friend was just getting to enjoy myself at the wedding. We danced the entire night and that was something everyone told us we weren’t going to get to do. We were told you get pulled away and don’t really get to enjoy your own wedding, but we did. We had so much fun with our friends and family.
How will you describe the feeling you had on your wedding day to your children one day?
I would say I felt nervous, relief, then just tons of love. The nerves were from everyone asking, “are you ok, how you doing” and then of course walking down the aisle with everyone staring. The relief was when i finally got to see Jay at the first look, waiting for him to turn around was the most anxious i had ever been, and then when hugging him I wasn’t nervous anymore. Seeing him at the ceremony waiting for me everyone else fades into the background. And the amount of love you feeling on your wedding day, theres nothing like it. Every person in the room is there for you and your spouse in your marriage. There is just so much love. It truly is a wonderful feeling.
What was one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one? Which 3 details from your wedding were your favorites?
We knew Buona Sera Palazzo was our after the food tasting. The food was amazing and the amount that we were able to try! It was feast its self. Megan who we worked with was fantastic. Answered any question we had and gave us recommendation about stations and food selections.
