Jessica & Michael :: Blue Mountain Resort Wedding Photos

Jessica and Michael’s Pocono Mountain wedding at the Blue Mountain Resort had cool, mountain weather and one of my favorite things: succulents! Take a peek for yourself…

This super sweet couple had such a gorgeous day, stunning succulents and super cute personalized details throughout their wedding. Their guest sign in? A custom jigsaw puzzle of Australia…where they actually met! Another great detail I loved: they used different types of tables and linens, which really added to the uniqueness of their day.

The Blue Mountain Resort is a fantastic venue: if you are looking for gorgeous, mountain setting, and a place your guests can stay for the weekend, look no further. This resort has stunning views from their indoor and outdoor event spaces, tons of activities year round, lodging and more. One thing I love: they did Jessica and Michael’s succulent cake and cupcakes! So creative (and yummy)!

Thank you both for allowing me to be a part of your big day! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

How did you two meet and fall in love?

We met while studying abroad in Australia at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Mike’s friend Joe told him that I was sneaking a peek at Mike from across the bar, so next time we were at a party together, he approached me and we started talking and hanging out. We spent the final two months of our study abroad trip together, and decided to give us a shot when we moved back to the US. For the first few months, we tried to see each other once or twice a month, since we lived and went to school about 4 hours from each other. Before long, we were making the long trip to see each other almost every weekend.

What made you choose your specific venue for your wedding day?

We chose our venue for the spectacular view overlooking the Pocono Mountains from both the reception room and the pergola.

Was there a theme behind your wedding day? What colors did you choose? What ‘feeling’ were you going for?

The theme was rustic, based around succulents. Our colors were purple, green and copper. We were going for a rustic and non-formal feeling.

What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?

Our first dance to the song Settle Down Easy, by Rebelution. It was a non-traditional choice for a first dance song, but the risk paid off and it turned out better than expected. We were both floating on cloud 9 sharing our first dance with all our family and friends in the room with us. It felt like all our hard work and planning had finally come to fruition.

What was most important to you when planning your wedding?

All our family and friends enjoying the night as much as we knew we would. The band played a vital part in this, because it was super important that everyone was up on that dance floor!

What piece of advice would you give to future couples planning their big day?

The best piece of advice we can give is also the best piece of advice we received: don’t sweat the small stuff, just focus on enjoying every moment with your closest group of family and friends. Chances are, if something small goes wrong, nobody will notice aside from you and your husband.
